Adoption & Transracial Adoption Community
“As a transracial adoptive parent, I thought I had educated myself. Judith pushes me to look deeper and think harder. She works in a kind and compassionate way, not shaming or blaming. She is helping us understand our child better and the way they experience the world.”

wE work with transracial adoptees (TRA) and their families as well as interracial families. WE love working with this population for a number of reasons.
We normalize the complexities of being in an interracial family.
We normalize and show compassion towards adoptive white parents who don’t know how to have conversations about racism, prejudice and oppression as it relates to race with their child.
We help TRA’s and parents process the complexities and difficulties TRA’s experience within adoption and transracial adoption.
We help clients and adoptive parents identify overt and covert messages in their family system that are or have been harmful to their child and family.
We teach TRA’s the importance and tools to self-regulating their nervous system when experiencing unregulated.
We take an attachment and trauma based approach to the process of reconciliation between parent and child.
We help TRA’s and parents understand the process of racial identity development as well as adolescent development.
We help parents identify their own trauma and unresolved wounds that influence their own parenting patterns.
We encourage healthy racial narratives among TRA’s and challenge parents to accept those narratives while deconstructing culture biases.
There are so many other important concepts to this work, but nonetheless Triune Health & Wellness extends these resources to the families we work with.
We explore key concepts such as:
Love in Interracial Families
Racial Identity Development
Attachment & Racial Identity
Racism & Attachment
Protective and Affirmative Racial Socialization
And so much more!
